Facial recognition Raising Privacy Concerns Widely used with Homeland Security and Law Enforcement, Facial recognition has grown very popular and is now applied in a commercial aspect. The Federal Trade Commission has put together a workshop including representatives of companies, technologists and more to adress issues of privacy and ID misuse. Staff attorney at the Division of Privacy and Identity Protection at the FTC, Amanda Koulousias said: “It’s detecting the age range and the gender of the person who is looking at the sign,”. She of course is refering to the way companies now use Facial Recognition to unlock your demographic charecteristics. The technology also being used for photo tagging, was discussed by representatitves from Facebook and Google in terms of how their social networks are applying the technology.
